hey well as some of you may know im currently working on this entirely original, violently absurdist comedy of a play called NAUSEA’S REPRIEVE written by JAMES KHOO.
we met James last year when Gordo and myself made a factory line of songs for his production of “My Prescription For Enduring The End Of The World” which was his first play. that performed for 4 dates at the bella union trades hall.
this one i think is much tighter and will be way more of a stylised, hilarious, funhouse mirror warped beast that im lucky enough to be co-directing with SHARON FLYNN, who is so professional and has all the greatest ideas and totally puts up with my stunted mouth, hand gesturous way of communicating.
together we’ve assembled a really experienced, versatile cast that radiate the strong mega positivities. when one of them had to drop out because of a sick partner the rest of the gang didn’t even mind that i took on the role! which has been hell tough. way tougher than i initially expected.
from a musical angle, a little while ago patrick aka neck-burn was all like “maaan rzrsx im not even wanting to make laptop music anymore” and i was all “chyeah totally” but then when i walked away i said to myself “do you know razorsex, you’ve never actually made laptop music before? youve just watched neck-burn do it” so i decided all the music that i made for this play would be laptop based and its been totally sick fun. normally im all fronty-shouty-dancey man and ive now morphed into headphone adorned, parameter tweaking, tone funk muchacho.
its totally suiting my recent appetite for not really being social and being a nerd in front of a computer screen. most of the time i don’t even feel like im “working” on music, it’s like playing a sick RPG like world of warcraft or something. kills me. head bob. sex symbol.
anyway this elongated caption is to give you a little info on what ive been doing with my time and will be something ill be posting on here about as well as to the http://www.nauseasreprieve.tumblr.com and the nauseasreprieve twitter account. which you should follow just to feel some of the ideas for it all develop. its especially interesting now as some of the actors really start to sink into being their characters and totally wearing them like skin. exciting.

in the meantime, come to Yah Yahs tonight (Thursday July 14) to see our last show for a big while. The band is about to start recording the second album and intends to spend a fair bit of time focusing on remixing and production. we’re on early at 830 and the rest of the bands are more than worthwhile to stick around for. especially OLD GROWTH COLA from Bris who are currently causing a massive mess in my kitchen.
